Frequently Asked Questions

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a form of healthcare that focuses on the spine, muscles, joints and the nervous system, and how they work together to support everyday movement and wellbeing. At its heart, chiropractic is about helping people feel more at ease in their bodies so they can move through life with greater comfort and confidence. The nervous system plays an important role in how the body moves, responds, and adapts to daily physical demands. Chiropractors consider how these structures may be involved in areas of tension, stiffness and discomfort.

What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a targeted technique used to support normal movement and function of the spine and joints. At Burpengary Chiropractic, we use a range of approaches tailored to each person’s age, comfort level and individual needs – from very light, low force techniques through to traditional manual adjustments.

What is Laser therapy?

Laser therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to help support the body’s natural recovery processes in muscle, joints and soft tissues. It is used to reduce muscle tension, support soft tissue healing and improve comfort in areas affected by strain and injury.

What is dry needling?

Dry needling is a technique used to help release tight or sensitive areas in muscles, often referred to as trigger points. It involves the use of very fine, sterile needles that are gently inserted into specific muscles to help reduce tension and improve movement and comfort. Dry needling is commonly used alongside chiropractic treatments

Why chiropractic for babies?

The arrival of a baby is one of life’s most precious and physically demanding journeys. From pregnancy through to birth, a baby experiences incredible change as they move into the world and begin life outside of the womb. Birth is a big and physical experience for both mother and baby. During birth and delivery a baby’s body may be positioned or shaped by the natural forces of labour, which can sometimes contribute to tension through the spine, muscles and joints. Because of this transition, some babies may hold areas of physical tension through their spine and body as they adjust to feeding, settling, movement and simply being in their new environment. Paediatric chiropractic care is always very gentle, calm and tailored specifically for babies. Using light and careful techniques, we aim to support comfort, ease of movement , and relaxation in a safe and nurturing way.

Is Chiropractic safe for children?

The Safe Care Victoria review gathered feedback from over 21000 parents who had taken their children to a chiropractor. Many parents shared that they felt heard, supported and reassured throughout their experience. A large number of families -around 98% said they felt they noticed positive changes in their child based on their own experience and observations. Parents often described chiropractic visits as calm and gentle, with children feeling comfortable and at ease during their appointments. More than anything, families spoke about the value of feeling informed and supported in their decisions, and having a safe, welcoming space where their child was treated with care and respect. At Burpengary Chiropractic, we understand how important those early experiences are. We take time to listen, to care gently and support families in a way that feels informed, calm, respectful and reassuring.

What is soft tissue therapy?

Soft tissue therapy is a hands on treatment that focuses on the muscles, tendons, and connective tissues of the body. It is used to heal, release muscle tightness, reduce tension and improve how your body moves and feels in everyday life. Techniques include gentle pressure, stretching, targeted muscle work, depending on your individual needs and comfort.

It uses light touch to support the body’s natural movement and help release areas of tension in a calm, comfortable way. This gentle approach is often used for babies and children, as well as adults who prefer a very soft, low force style of care/ It is always adapted to the individuals and their level of comfort.
